Not everyone needs skin care this pure. But we do.
Meet Pure Good, a family company based in Philadelphia, PA.
Jamie brought her skills for design and technology to Pure Good after a decade in marketing and agency experience. As a very judicious skin caretaker, she was also Pure Good’s first client and formulator of natural lotions and sunscreens. Jamie is currently a UX designer & consultant at ZS Associates, and an avid follower of science and technology news.
Michael is a former paramedic who combines his passions for organic chemistry and skin health with a decade of ethnomedical research to create Pure Good products. He has worked on health and sanitation practices in 24 countries, largely in rural areas. Michael is currently an NGO strategist in Philadelphia, celebrating his family’s second century in the City of Brotherly Love.
It all started with problem skin
A host of skin care problems and frustration with the available skin care options led us on a quest to make our solution. Research into common cosmetic ingredients taught us how much crap is in the products we put on our skin. When we use lotions, deodorants, and lip balm, our skin absorbs compounds and nutrients as if we were eating them. If you would think twice about eating parabens, phthalates, nitrosamines, cyclosiloxanes, glycol ethers, or potassium sorbate, you should think twice about slathering them on your body in the form of lotion and makeup.
What is in my skin-care?
Why are these chemicals in our skin’s “food”? Synthetics are cheap to manufacture. Large cosmetic manufacturers fill products with preservatives to keep them from spoiling on the shelf, and with cheap fillers to increase volume. While the science is impressive, these chemicals go on and into our skin along with cosmetics. Many of these additives weaken our skin’s natural defenses, exacerbate allergies, and cause painful irritation that make living in skin a nightmare.
It’s time to hold our skin care to a higher standard
Pure Good is based on one principle: no food goes on our bodies that should not go in our bodies. To realize this vision, we have started from scratch with food-grade ingredients to create organic vegan skin care products based on wisdom from cosmeticians, scientists, and healers. The result is Pure Good Skin Food.
